 >> Nepalease delegation is on high move (July 23, 2003)
  Nepalese delegation had meeting with ANA and American Nepal Society organised by ANS on Sunday evening, at Mount Everest Hotel. On that occasion about 50 Nepalese living in USA representing from different walks of life were present and the program was organised in honour of visiting political and the Nepalese delegation. Political delegation comprises of Mr. Bam Dev Gautam, Mrs. Bidhya Bhandari and Mr. Jagrit Prasad Bhetwal and from our side are Secretary at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Madhu Raman Acharya, DCM at Royal Nepal Embassy in Washington, Mr. Rudra Nepal and President of GAN, Mr. Kiran Prakash Saakha. Mr. Kiran Prakash Saakha, while addressing the function, formally thanked the President of ANA for the help extended to GAN during their convention at Denver, Colorado and congratulated him for being re-elected as a President of ANA. Mr. Saakha also requested all the Nepalese communities to continue their support in the days to come in order to pass the bill in the US Senate and explained about the objective of the delegation. On that occasion, Secretary at Ministry of Foreign Affairs had also spoke on the objective of the delegation. On Monday, the delegation had meeting at USTR with Ambassador E. Ashley Wills, Assistant US Trade Representative and Ms. Cecilia Leahy Klein, Director, WTO Accessions. They have discussed about the garment bill at the Senate and seek help to move the bill fast. On that meeting, Mr. Kiran P. Saakha has explained about the dark side picture of Nepal if the bill does not get through from the Senate. The delegation received assurance from USTR that they will extend whatever possible cooperation in this regard. On Tuesday, there was also meeting with the Assistant Secretary of State, Cristina Rocca and the meeting was attended by Secretary and DCM. The meeting was fruitful with respect to the garment bill also. There was also meeting today in Congress house with Congressman of Texas, Mr. Pete Session, and Mr. Tucker Anderson, Legislative Director Counsel of Texas base Congressman. During this meeting, the detail discussion was made with regard to Panda case and Secretary, Mr. Acharya assured them to settle this issue amicably and at the same time requested them to cooperate the garment bill in the senate. They have also assured the delegation that they will cooperate to pass the bill in the senate if HMG of Nepal also cooperate in the Panda issue. On Tuesday, there is also meeting with Under Secretary of the State and the main agenda for the discussion is regarding the garment bill of Nepal. On Wednesday, the Nepalese delegation will have the meeting with Senator Dianne Feinstein and also have the meeting with Richard Blum. "
